Chatham public meeting on short-term rentals
Chatham County invites residents to Memorial Stadium Monday night at 6:00 p.m. to sound any concerns, complaints, cheers, jeers or other thoughts about regulation of short-term vacation rentals, as the county considers updating rules for unincorporated Chatham just in time for summer.
Right now, short-term rental owners must get county certification, which can be revoked if guests are habitually too rowdy, too numerous or otherwise unlawful. Owners aren’t supposed to break any homeowners association ban on rentals either.
Chatham’s rules only cover unincorporated parts of the county like Isle of Hope, Skidaway Island and Wilmington Island. Savannah makes its own rules. If you can’t make the meeting, email your county commissioner with your thoughts.
