With all 4 districts reporting, Blount claimed 328 votes to Remillard’s 69.

Blount will go on to challenge incumbent District 4 Commissioner Maxie Jones IV, who took 301 votes in the uncontested Democratic primary.

Blount says the county cannot afford to keep giving big warehouse developments a free pass on property taxes. He told the Coastal Courier, “Liberty County should stop the warehouses from building. If Liberty County is going to allow warehouse development, then they should be taxed and not waivered for 10 years.”

Remillard, a retired Hinesville Police officer, said the county has not done enough to address poor drainage and recreational facilities and that it needs more sheriff’s deputies on the road.
