All eyes are on the governor and U.S. Senate races in Georgia. But candidates running for statewide constitutional offices like lieutenant governor are working to engage voters as well.

Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Josh McLaurin said he believes excitement for the candidates at the top of the ticket, such as U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff, will help voters pay attention to his race.
“Democrats from the state level to the federal level are all rallied behind our leadership and united on those same concerns,” he said at a campaign stop in Sandy Springs on Wednesday. “I think that voters know when they go to the polls and they pull the lever for a Democrat right now, they’re voting for the party that is not distracted.”
Republican lieutenant governor candidate Greg Dolezal said the race is part of a bigger picture.
“We will reclaim this state on the values it was founded on,” he said at a Republican fundraiser in Smyrna held Aug. 7. “We’re an original colony, y’all. It’s time we act like it.”
The lieutenant governor’s primary responsibility is to preside over the Georgia Senate. Both candidates are currently Georgia state senators.
The two candidates will face off Nov. 3.
