Welcome aboard! Here’s your weekly list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of local government officials you’ve elected.

This is our third week and we thank you again for the feedback and suggestions. This week, we welcome two new agencies to the roster: Coastal Regional Commission and the Hinesville Housing Authority.

Lesser-known agencies like these aren’t elected, but they are part of government; their meetings are public and their board members might be elected officials or appointed by them. Our goal is to let you know the policies, purchases or problems that local leaders are handling in their communities, and these public agencies are part of that. 

This week’s meetings to watch

Several city councils will meet in the first half of March. City councils generally handle at least planning and zoning, liquor licenses, and police. Many oversee additional services like city water, parks or a fire department. In other places, those are countywide functions. It varies from place to place. Check your city’s website to see what it offers.

If there is a public entity you’d like to see, let us know. We’ll try to add it. This list depends on what local governments offer on the internet. Some publish schedules for various boards and authorities. Some publish meeting schedules far in advance, timely agendas and livestreams. Some do not.

This list starts with an automated collection and is checked and edited by a human. But agencies may announce new meetings, change meeting times or cancel them, sometimes without any online notice. Some publish calendars in more than one place with different information.

You may want to call ahead and verify the meeting time and place, especially for smaller agencies.
