Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.

Last steps in county vote-tallying

Bulloch, Chatham and Effingham counties’ election boards meet Tuesday to certify vote counts in the May 19 primary. Their votes confirm the tallying and validation done since Election Day. Other county boards are already done with this administrative job. 

Efforts in 2024 by Trump-aligned Republicans on the State Election Board and elsewhere to subvert certification have been shut down by courts.

The state and 159 county election boards share the job of running elections: those many hands on the work are a defense against conspiracy. 

With a list of more than than seven million names statewide, election administrators face typos, incorrect birth dates, odd handwriting and some 0ther errors, as The Current GA’s Maggie Lee reported about a Chatham County voter who got a letter about her home being “potentially vacant.” The good news: though the error in postal data was alarming, her right to vote was not in question.
