Find your public meetings, agendas
June 3, 2024
Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.
Executive session – aka closed meeting
Government and the law come with a lot of jargon, and we’re here to help decode it.
A meeting of a school board, county commission or city council sometimes goes into “executive session” during a public meeting. That means the board chooses to withdraw into secrecy, without public witnesses, to discuss one of a handful of topics allowed some secrecy under Georgia law. For example, if a city is negotiating to buy or sell a piece of land, or if it’s negotiating a lawsuit settlement, or has some personnel matter, these are some of the reasons public officials can choose to speak among themselves in private.
Before a private executive session can start, an official at the public meeting must announce the reason for the secrecy. The board members must sign an affidavit saying that they discussed only what they said they would. And they can choose to keep minutes.
Any eventual outcome – like a land transaction or a lawsuit payout — becomes public once it’s finalized. And in the meantime, board members can publicly discuss what happened in private.
Our list of meeting agendas and schedules depends on what cities, counties, school boards and other boards publish online covering the next two weeks. Some publish more details than others. As always, if there is a public entity you’d like to see, let us know. We’ll try to add it.

This list starts with an automated collection and is checked and edited by a human. But agencies may announce new meetings, change meeting times or cancel them, sometimes without any online notice. Some publish calendars in more than one place with different information.
You may want to call ahead and verify the meeting time and place, especially for smaller agencies.
