Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.

Richmond Hill airport hangs on in council

Richmond Hill isn’t going to withdraw from the public agency that’s urging construction of a local airport. Not right now anyway.

At a meeting short of one councilmember Tuesday evening, two votes were enough to keep the city in the Richmond Hill-Bryan County Airport Authority.

Public comment before the meeting followed the same lines it has for months: airplane owners said private hangar space is short in the area.  Residents said they are not interested in noisy and possibly dangerous air traffic.

The airport would also be costly. As The Current GA has reported, it would take at least two decades and five times as many taxable airplanes as are in the County now to make up the $66 million airport construction cost to state and federal taxpayers

The Bryan County Commission has voted to stop any funding for a proposed airport. The public airport authority hasn’t met since October.

But the airport authority is among the 60 or so agencies that The Current is tracking for our public meetings list. If we see a notice in time, it’ll be here so you can go to it or contact your elected officials with your thoughts.

Our list of public meetings and agendas covers the next two weeks. Let us know how you use this calendar or how we can improve it at staff@thecurrentga.org.

This list starts with an automated collection that does not involve AI. It is checked and edited by a human. But agencies may announce new meetings, change meeting times or cancel them, sometimes without any online notice. Some publish calendars in more than one place with different information.  Some rely on Facebook posts which may require a login to read and cannot be collected automatically.

You may want to call ahead and verify the meeting time and place, especially for smaller agencies.
