Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.

A very special meeting

Most public boards set a meeting calendar by some rule, like the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. 

Some meetings are billed as “regular” sessions while others may be called “workshops” or “agenda sessions” or something similar.  All of those meetings are open to the public, but the board members may simply handle different types of business at each one. 

For example, a city council may schedule a staff presentation during a workshop so they can take time for a drafting, re-drafting and discussion at a time separate from their regular meeting. Garden City is returning to a draft of an outdoor advertising ordinance Monday evening at a pre-agenda session, for example. Practices vary by board, check agendas to see what yours are doing.

Boards sometimes call “special” meetings outside of the usual schedule. Those meetings are public, too. In the coming weeks, boards are finishing their annual budgets and setting their millage rates, and both issues are sometimes heard in special-called meetings. But special meetings can pop up any time.

Our list of meetings depends on what local governments offer on their websites. Some publish up-to-date schedules and agendas for various boards and authorities all in one place online. Some do not. Some only post notices at their own offices. So watch the official website and check for newspaper public notices as well.  Want to see another agency here? Let us know.

This list starts with an automated collection and is checked and edited by a human. But agencies may announce new meetings, change meeting times or cancel them, sometimes without any online notice. Some publish calendars in more than one place with different information.  

You may want to call ahead and verify the meeting time and place, especially for smaller agencies.
