Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.

What’s the plan?

If you had nearly 200 acres with a lake, and thousands of guests on the way, what kind of amenities do you think you’d need for them? 

That’s Richmond Hill’s question with Sterling Creek Park. Folks can already cycle, kayak, swim, walk and relax there, but the city is working on a new “master plan” for the park and asking residents what other improvements they’d like to see, like better traffic flow, accessibility or other features. The city is holding an open house on the park and taking comments Thursday, Sept. 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

It’s typical for major public parks to have a “master plan” that’s been drawn up with public input and with thought from the staff who are in charge of keeping the place up.  Everything in a plan might get done, or it might not.  But a city’s master plan is a way to understand what residents want or need so that park budgets can go in that direction.

The Current is publishing this public meetings list covering eight counties and about 50 public boards.  Our list of meetings for the next two weeks depends on what local governments offer on the internet. As always, let us know how we’re doing or if there’s a board you’d like to see here.
