Community Wellness Fair: Plan ahead now for free health screenings, medication reviews and more 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, Camden County Recreation Center, 1050 Wildcat Drive, Kingsland, sponsored by Southeast Georgia Health System. Set up an appointment at sghs.org/healthfair

Register or check your vote: The Woodbine Public Library, 103 E. 8th St. in Woodbine will offer a voter registration training session at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, guided by the interim director of the Camden Elections Board Rockney Carter for those wanting to help voters register.  Any Camden County library can help citizens wanting to register electronically by going to My Voter Page. Paper registration forms must be done accurately and delivered to the local Camden Election Board (rather than mailing to the state as addressed, as time is short) to be sure the voter is listed electronically on the Camden voter roll by the Nov. 7 election day.

Confederate Civil War reenactors fire a cannon during the 161st anniversary of the battle of Fort McAllister: Richmond Hill, GA, on Dec. 13, 2025.

Labor Day at Fort McAllister: A special day of living history from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. Historians bring the Civil War-era fort to life with musket demonstrations, period games, medical displays, and other hands-on activities. Watermelon will also be served as families enjoy a relaxed day exploring one of Georgia’s best-preserved Civil War earthwork fortifications. Regular admission prices range from $5.50 to $9.75. Brunswick Police Citizens Academy: The Brunswick Police Department invites community members to participate in its 2026 Citizens Academy, an opportunity to learn more about the department, its operations, and the work officers do to serve and protect the City of Brunswick. The Citizens Academy will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday, Sept. 10 through Oct.15, at the Marshes of Glynn Libraries, 208 Gloucester Street, in Conference Room B. Glynn Visual Arts multisensory exhibition: Glynn Visual Arts (GVA) is presenting a multisensory exhibition blending paintings and sculptural works with conceptual and performance art by local artist and author Randy Siegel. Siegel’s art focuses on personal and spiritual growth and has been described as “postcards from the psyche.” The exhibit is at Portman Gallery at GVA, 106 Island Dr., St. Simons Island, and will remain on view through Sept. 4.

Native plant giveaway: Today is National Planting Day. Take home a free native plant while supplies last and learn how you can help the bees that feed us from 3-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Hinesville Farmers and Makers Market, 107 S. Commerce St. in Bradwell Park. Plants that grow naturally in our region save water, don’t need dangerous pesticides or fussy care, and give our local creatures food and shelter. Look for the blue Keep Liberty Beautiful tent. Free parking across street.

LCHS art opening: Students and teachers from Liberty County High School show off their artworks from 5:30-7 p.m. this evening, Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Hinesville Area Arts Council Gallery, 102 Commerce, Hinesville. Opening reception is free. Show continues through Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Sponsored by Hinesville Area Arts Council, LCHS, and Hinesville Area Board of Realtors.

American Legion fundraiser: Support local veterans Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Tractor Supply Company, 766 W. Oglethorpe Ave., Hinesville. Budget-friendly $4 burgers, $3 hot dogs, 75-cent chips, and $1 drinks, with all proceeds to American Legion Post 168 for veterans in the community. Call (912) 876-0168 for details.
