We Bring Good News
It’s a happy Friday here at The Current! This week, we were named one of 10 news organizations in North America for a new initiative to improve our reach to readers and help us survive and thrive through turbulent times.
The Google News Initiative Digital Growth Program’s Audience Lab is designed to help us fulfill our basic mission: to provide everyone in Coastal Georgia credible, in-depth information so we can all make good decisions. To do this, Google partners with the News Revenue Hub and the International News Media Association to provide a digital foundation and free in-depth training over several months to help us become a sustainable organization while developing a loyal audience.
This news comes just a few weeks after reporter Laura Corley won a fellowship award through the Doris O’Donnell Investigative Journalism Fellowship and editor in chief Margaret Coker was named to the Poynter Institute’s 2021 Media Transformation Challenge Program.
We’re only 8 months old but we’re already working to bring more accountability journalism to Coastal Georgia. With your donation today, you can join Google News Initiative, INMA and the News Revenue Hub to help us do that.
We won’t celebrate too long — there’s work to do!
