Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.

State seeking public comment on Metaplant wells

Almost all of Coastal Georgia taps the same place for water: the Floridan Aquifer deep below the earth’s surface.

That’s why some folks are nervous about four new large wells that Bulloch and Bryant counties want to drill to supply the Hyundai Metaplant and new developments that will come with it.  Worries about underground water pressure hover over anyone on well water who wants to take a shower.

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division is taking comments about these draft permits in a public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Southeast Bulloch High School.

Glynn review

Over the next week, Glynn County is holding three quarterly meetings to review how it’s doing on goals for all kinds of county governance from IT to public works. The meetings are Monday through Wednesday, Aug. 12 through 14 starting at 9 a.m. each day.  Check the agenda for each day here.

In the week after Debby rained emergencies all over the coast, The Current Glynn County Reporter Jabari Gibbs says he’ll be watching to see how police, the county emergency management agency and allied departments plan to accomplish preparedness goals.

Colonel’s Island subdivision

A new subdivision may rise on Colonel’s Island, if the Liberty County Commission approves a 211-acre rezoning request on Kings Road.  Some neighbors are worried about traffic and have been sending in written comments ahead of the commission meeting and vote scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 15 at 5:00 p.m.

This list of public meetings for the next two weeks depends on what local governments offer on the internet. Some publish detailed agendas days in advance, and some do not post agendas at all.  We’re following about 50 agencies, cities and county boards. As always, if there’s one you’d like to see added, please let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This list starts with an automated collection and is checked and edited by a human. But agencies may announce new meetings, change meeting times or cancel them, sometimes without any online notice. Some publish calendars in more than one place with different information.

You may want to call ahead and verify the meeting time and place, especially for smaller agencies.
