CHATHAM COUNTY
Savannah at Night: At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, Savannah Mayor Johnson and City Manager Melder are hosting an informational meeting for residents to learn about city initiatives at Savannah High School. Presentations will cover issues such as code compliance, the FY 2027 budget survey and illegal dumping. Residents can ask officials from a range of city departments about their projects and services. The meeting is from 6-7:15 p.m. and city department exhibits are from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m.
Museum Family Day: Ships of the Sea Museum is hosting a Making Waves Family Day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13. There will be art and science activities. The museum will also debut its new hands-on gallery experiences at Family Day. Admission is free. You can RSVP here.
Tax Office on Wheels: The Chatham County Tax Commissioner’s Office has launched a new Mobile Tax Office to bring tax services to the neighborhood by appointment from Monday through Friday, at community events on Saturdays, and following church services on Sundays. Basic schedule: Skidaway Island on Tuesdays, Pooler on Wednesdays and Tybee on Thursdays. To schedule additional locations, including neighborhood associations, community organizations, churches, and local businesses, contact 912-652-7118. Services include tag and titles, and general assistance. See weekly schedule of stops at tax.chathamcountyga.gov.
Skate Night at the Park: The 912 Skaters Coalition holds an all-ages skate from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. every Thursday at Lake Mayer Park, 850 E Montgomery Cross Road, Savannah, featuring tunes by DJ Live Child. Skating is free and you can Cash App tips to $djlivechild. The group is working to create a safe, inclusive skating facility in Savannah.
Veterans Art Studio: The Telfair Museums’ veterans-only studio program offers a calm, open approach to drawing and painting with guidance from an experienced instructor,from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the Jepson Center, 207 W. York St., Savannah. You don’t need experience in making art. Studio space allows artists to work independently, but you can request guidance from an instructor as you wish. CAMDEN COUNTY
Voter Education Forum: The Camden County GET OUT THE VOTE Collaborative will host a nonpartisan Voter and Ballot Education Forum from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 14, at the Camden County Recreation Center. The forum will offer an opportunity for community members to become better informed about the issues that matter to Camden County, current policies, candidates and to learn more about what will appear on the ballot. The forum is intended as an educational opportunity and will be non-partisan in nature.
No Cost Adoption Fair: Camden County Animal Control is hosting a free adoption fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus in St. Mary’s. Contact 912-576-7395 with questions.
Wellness Fair: The Southeast Georgia Health System is hosting their annual Community Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 19 at the Camden County Recreation Center. Residents can access free screenings, free medication reviews and can connect with physicians and specialists on site to learn about health services. Appointments are encouraged for screenings, contact 855-ASK-SGHS (855-275-7447) to book a time. More event details here.

BRYAN COUNTY
Hurricane Registry: Residents who have medical needs, physical disabilities and other transportation limitations and who need assistance have two options to register for help for hurricane evacuation. Residents of Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties may call 833-243-7344 or visit the Coastal Health District website at coastalhealthdistrict.org/registry to download an application.
The Mayor’s Table: Mayor Kristi Cox will host an hour-long open forum for residents at 9 a.m. and again at 6 p.m. on Sept. 14 at the Wetlands Education Center. Residents can share feedback, concerns and questions. No refreshments are served. More details here.
Live Theater: Bryan County actors will offer two performances of “Writers’ Runaround” this week at the Richmond Hill City Center. Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Tickets may be purchased online at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/writers-runaround.

GLYNN COUNTY
Drool at the Pool: Glynn County Recreation and Parks will host its annual Drool at the Pool event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Neptune Park Fun Zone. Dogs and their owners are invited to enjoy a morning of swimming and fun before the pool closes for the season. Admission is $2 per dog. All dogs must be leashed upon entry and remain under supervision at all times while in the facility. For questions, call 912-279-3720.
Emergency ride assistance: Glynn County Emergency Management Agency encourages residents who may have no other reasonable means of leaving the area during a hurricane evacuation to register for the new Glynn County Ride Assistance Program. It does not provide door-to-door transportation. The county has four designated transportation pickup sites: Harris Teeter on St. Simons, Glynn Place Mall, Mary Ross Park, and Lanier Plaza. To register for the program, visit www.glynncounty.org/evacuation.
4th Annual Wellness Walk: At 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, the 4th Annual Wellness Walk and Community Wellness Fair will be held at Harold E. Jennings Wellness Park. The event will bring the community together for a morning focused on health, wellness, and connection. It will feature a 2-mile walk along the park’s paved path, followed by a Community Wellness Fair with opportunities to learn more about healthy living and wellness resources. Registration is $20 per participant and includes a t-shirt, a healthy snack ticket, and City of Brunswick wellness swag. Registration is open through Sept. 20. Data Center Town Hall: From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, 100 Miles is hosting a community town hall at the Mars Theatre for Effingham County to learn about the proposed data center. ALONG THE COAST
Protect yourself: All branches of the Coastal Health District are offering free testing for sexually transmitted infections this month. One in five people in the U.S. are infected yet often don’t realize it until long-term serious damage develops. Protect yourself and the ones you love—get checked. See the schedule by county for an STI testing event near you.
Flu shots available: Health departments in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties now offer updated 2025-2026 flu vaccine. Supplies limited in some locations. Call your local health department to confirm availability and schedule an appointment. A yearly flu vaccine is the best way to prevent serious flu-related illness for everyone age 6 months and older. Insurance usually covers costs. Low-cost options available if you’re uninsured.
COVID shots available: The health departments in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh Counties are offering the Pfizer brand of COVID vaccine without a prescription, the Coastal Health District announced.
