Questionnaires were compiled by The Current based on questions from readers. The answers to each question are verbatim from each candidate with exceptions for exceeding the word count; overages were trimmed. The answers were not edited for style or spelling; candidates were contacted if there was a question of clarity. If a question is skipped, we’ve noted that. If a candidate failed to respond to the questionnaire, we’ve noted that, as well.

What is the main challenge or opportunity facing your constituents?
The rapid growth in West Chatham presents both a challenge and an opportunity. Our community is expanding at an unprecedented rate, which brings potential for economic development and enhanced services. However, this growth also risks overwhelming our existing infrastructure and eroding the close-knit, community-centric environment that makes our neighborhoods special.
The challenge is to manage this growth in a way that preserves our community’s character while capitalizing on the economic opportunities. To do this, we need to apply “SMART Growth” principles, which means planning our development carefully to ensure that new businesses, housing, and infrastructure fit well within our existing neighborhoods. This approach focuses on making our community livable and sustainable by balancing commercial and industrial development with the protection of our green spaces and the integrity of our neighborhoods. Together, we can ensure that our community not only grows but thrives, maintaining the quality of life that our families cherish.
Tell us what your priorities would be in the first 100 days of office?
In the first 100 days, my primary focus will be on directly connecting with the residents of West Chatham to ensure they know who represents them and how I will advocate for their needs. I will launch a “Meet Your Commissioner” initiative, where I will hold weekly town halls in different neighborhoods, as well as host open office hours at accessible community centers. These sessions will provide a platform for residents to share their concerns, ideas, and feedback, giving them a true seat at the table in decisions that affect their lives.
Additionally, I will establish a monthly newsletter and a community website, as a dedicated communication channel to keep everyone informed about ongoing projects and upcoming decisions. I will also begin forming a citizen advisory committee made up of diverse voices from across the district to provide regular input on strategic infrastructure improvements that align with SMART Growth principles. These efforts will ensure that from day one, the people of West Chatham are fully engaged in shaping the future of our community.
What, in your opinion, makes you uniquely qualified to serve your constituents and what sets you apart from your opponents?
My deep roots in Savannah, coupled with over 25 years of leadership experience in the private sector, uniquely position me to serve West Chatham. I understand the importance of community and collaboration. My experience as a Retail District Manager has honed my ability to manage resources efficiently and lead teams effectively. I bring both a long-standing commitment to this community and a proven track record of leadership and service.
What are your plans to improve services for your constituents?
Improving services starts with listening to the needs of our community. I plan to work closely with local municipalities and unincorporated areas to ensure that we are leveraging our collective strengths. This means advocating for infrastructure improvements, such as better roads and public transportation, that can handle our growth. I also plan to enhance public safety by increasing collaboration between local law enforcement and community groups.
Moreover, I will push for more accessible recreational facilities and green spaces to support the health and well-being of our families. My goal is to create a seamless integration of services that improves the quality of life for everyone in West Chatham.
Have you read the budget for your office or board – Yes or No? What priorities would you change?
Yes, I have reviewed the budget. While the current budget outlines necessary allocations, I believe we need to prioritize funding for infrastructure that supports our rapid growth, such as road improvements and public transportation. Additionally, I would advocate for increased investment in public safety and emergency services to ensure that our expanding community remains safe. Finally, I would allocate more resources to community development programs that strengthen the bonds between neighborhoods and foster a sense of belonging. By making these adjustments, we can better align our budget with the needs and aspirations of West Chatham residents.
What steps should Georgia take to improve quality of life for your constituents?
To improve the quality of life in West Chatham, Georgia needs to prioritize infrastructure, education, and economic development.
First, the state should allocate additional funding for local infrastructure projects, including roads and regional public transportation, to support our rapidly growing area.
Second, we need to invest in education by building more schools and expanding programs focused on career readiness and career pathways, ensuring our children are prepared to thrive in this workforce.
Third, economic development efforts should include creating good-paying jobs that offer livable wages and supporting the workforce with affordable housing and affordable childcare programs. By addressing these needs, we can help working families achieve financial stability while maintaining the unique character of our community.
Lastly, Georgia must support initiatives that preserve our environment, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the natural beauty of our state.
How do you feel you can improve public safety in your role if elected?
Public safety is a top priority for me, and I believe it requires a comprehensive approach. I’m committed to improving our infrastructure by creating safer, more walkable communities with the addition of sidewalks and crosswalks, making it easier and safer for residents to navigate from our neighborhoods to our commercial centers. Additionally, I will prioritize enhancing our emergency medical services and ensuring our community is well-prepared for environmental disasters like hurricanes and flooding. This will involve investing in training and equipment for first responders and developing robust disaster response plans. Furthermore, I will support programs that address the root causes of crime, such as poverty and lack of opportunity, by promoting initiatives that provide job training and education for at-risk individuals. By taking this proactive and holistic approach, we can create a safer, more resilient, and connected environment for all of West Chatham.
Required for sheriff’s candidates: Do you feel staffing and pay is adequate for your department?
NA
If elected, what policies would you favor to deter gun violence?
I would support policies that promote responsible gun ownership, such as requiring background checks for all firearm purchases and enhancing mental health services. Additionally, I would advocate for mandatory safe storage of firearms in homes and vehicles to prevent accidental shootings and theft. I would also support community-based programs that educate residents on gun safety and work to reduce violence through conflict resolution initiatives. By taking these steps, we can create a safer environment for everyone in our community.
How do you see yourself creating/supporting policies related to climate change?
As a leader, I am committed to supporting policies that address climate change and protect our environment. I would advocate for initiatives that promote renewable energy and reduce our community’s carbon footprint. This includes encouraging the use of solar energy in residential and commercial developments and supporting microtransit options that reduce the amount of cars on the road. Additionally, I would work to preserve our green spaces and promote sustainable development practices that protect our natural resources. By taking these steps, we can contribute to the global fight against climate change while enhancing the quality of life in West Chatham.
How important is transparency with your constituents after being elected into office? How will you communicate with your constituents on issues?
Transparency is absolutely crucial. I believe that an informed community is an empowered community. I will maintain open lines of communication through regular town halls, newsletters, social media updates, and a dedicated phone line for residents. I will also make myself available to meet with residents one-on-one to address their concerns. By keeping constituents informed and involved in the decision-making process, we can build a government that truly represents the people. My commitment to transparency will ensure that every resident has a voice in shaping the future of West Chatham.
Is there one key issue driving your run for office? Why?
The key issue driving my run for office is the need for a “New” West Chatham. Our community is at a critical juncture, and how we manage our growth will define our future. I am committed to ensuring that we develop in a way that benefits all residents, not just developers, preserving the character of our neighborhoods while capitalizing on economic opportunities. This is not just about growth; it’s about having the foresight to create a sustainable, vibrant community where families can thrive for generations to come.
