Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Stress, Trauma, and Anxiety Research Clinic (STARC lab; PI Dr. Arash Javanbakht) at Wayne State University in Detroit. I completed a doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Wayne State University and am involved in both research and clinical work.
My current research focuses on understanding the relationships between trauma, psychosocial processes (e.g., stress and social interactions), and neuroendocrine function (e.g., HPA axis related processes), as well as investigating psychosocial rehabilitation models for promoting recovery in persons with serious mental illness (SMI). Throughout this work, I have published 12 original research articles, presented at 20+ international and national conferences, and partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO) and World Psychiatric Association (WPA) to design education and training curriculums that have been implemented at multiple institutions, including Columbia University and Michigan State University.
Finally, I have also worked as a psychologist at my private clinical practice in metro Detroit for over 6 years, after graduating from Wayne State with a double masters in clinical counseling and art therapy.
