Welcome aboard! This is a list of public meetings and agendas to help you follow the work of officials you’ve elected.

Bringing partisanship to potholes

A pothole isn’t partisan. Neither are most things reviewed by county commissions and school boards. And more than a quarter of Georgia’s registered voters identify as independents or nonpartisan, according to one estimate.

Yet it’s exceedingly difficult to get on some local boards without major party allegiance, as The Current GA‘s Jabari Gibbs reports. Sometimes, getting on the ballot without a D or R involves hurdles like working for hundreds or thousands of signatures, or convincing voters to choose you as a write-in.

Not all local boards are partisan. Some school boards skip party labels, including those in Savannah-Chatham, Liberty and Camden counties. Coastal Georgia’s city councils are nonpartisan too.

Our list of public meetings covers every local government meeting we’ve been able to find over the next two weeks. As always, send us a selfie at staff@thecurrentga.org from any meeting on this list and we’ll send you a t-shirt from The Current GA.

This list starts with an automated collection that does not involve AI. It is checked and edited by a human. But agencies may announce new meetings, change meeting times or cancel them, sometimes without any online notice. Some publish calendars in more than one place with different information. Some rely on Facebook posts which may require a login to read and cannot be collected automatically.

You may want to call ahead and verify the meeting time and place, especially for smaller agencies.
