Finally, an event with bagpipes playing instead of Pitbull. Visit McIntosh County for some holiday fun with pirates, ceilidh dancing, and history lessons. Check out the Free Market in Chatham and the puppy yoga in Camden. Let the kiddos play baseball for a cause on Saturday and enjoy a quiet morning in Bryan County before heading to the Christmas Parade in Long.

Georgia Chamber Healthcare Plans Webinar: The Savannah Area Chamber will hold a 30-minute webinar covering the Georgia Health Care plans for small businesses, from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, on a zoom meeting that you can register for by clicking here.

Oh Night Divine: The Dive Savannah is hosting a free event in honor of military veterans. Eat some good food and connect with the community from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Christ Church Anglican, 2020 Bull St. 

Christmas Street Parade: The parade will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, starting at Plant Riverside District and ending downtown by River Street. Click here for the map. The event will feature floats, cars, trolleys, walking groups and more. Celebrate with friends and family on Savannah’s Waterfront. Admission is free and open to the public.

Holiday Film Festival: This week’s movie is Arthur’s Christmas, which will start at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at NCG Cinemas, 3001 Skidaway Rd. The tickets are free, unless there is a large group accommodation which will be $7 per person and includes popcorn, fruit snacks, and a drink. A sensory friendly show will be held at 10:30 a.m. and will play the movie with the lights up and sound down. 

Yoga in the Park: Join yoga instructor Danette Bauer of Collins Quarter from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Forsyth Park in front of Collin’s Quarter, 621 Drayton St. Bring a mat, towel, or blanket and get ready to feel the flow.

101 Dalmatians KIDS: Starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Pigmental Studios Auditorium, 124 Industrial Dr. Saltwater Performing Arts brings Disney’s 101 Dalmatians KIDS to the stage. Packed with puppies, catchy tunes, and delightfully villainous Cruella, the show is perfect for families, young performers, and anyone who lives a “pawsitive” time.

Toys for Tots Baseball Camp: This one-day camp for ages 6-13 will focus on baseball fundamentals. While the camp is free, a donation of an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots is welcomed. Fort McAllister Winter Muster and Reenactment: Fort McAllister State Historic Park is hosting a winter muster and reenactment to celebrate their 161st Anniversary of Sherman’s March to the Sea. It will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday Dec. 12, and Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Fort McAllister State Historic Park, 3894 Fort McAllister Road. Admission is $15 per person. Wreaths Across America Ceremony: The non-profit organization that coordinates annual wreath-laying ceremonies at veterans’ gravesites will hold the event from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Burnt Church Cemetery, 114, Belfast River Rd. Click here to volunteer or sponsor a wreath. 

Holiday Neighbor Fest: From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Richmond Hill Historical Society Grounds, 11460 Ford Ave. Vendors, businesses, organizations, and non profits will all gather in one place to showcase the communities wonder resources. Glynn County Schools to receive workforce development distinction: The Georgia Department of Education announced that Glynn County Schools will receive an Economic Development Partnership (EDP) designation for FY25. The EDP designation is part of Georgia’s Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education program and lasts for five years. For students, EDP promotes increased work-based learning and youth apprenticeship opportunities along with additional exposure to local businesses and industries. Glynn County, as well as three other districts, will join 18 districts that hold the distinction. 

Amazon to open new Brunswick delivery station: Amazon announced that it has opened its new delivery facility in Brunswick. The new 58,000-square-foot delivery station is located at 6750 GA 99, Brunswick. Amazon officials have said that the facility will create more than a hundred jobs and provide driving opportunities for residents. Wages start at $19 an hour. 

Coastal Georgia Grits and Issues: The 12th annual Grits and Issues, put together by the Brunswick Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Jekyll Island Convention Center. It will feature state representatives Rick Townsend, Buddy Deloach, Mike Hodges, Steven Sainz, Ron Stephens, and state senator Drew Echols. The elected officials will discuss the region’s future and their legislative priorities.

Juried Art Showcase:  from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30, Thursday, Dec. 11, you can check out the Hinesville Area Arts Council’s winning works of art at 102 S. Commerce St., next to the Susie King Taylor Museum. Over $700 in awards go to select artists from across Liberty County. Come meet the artists, see through their eyes, and toast their successes.

Hot Cocoa with Santa: What could be more fun than meeting firemen AND Santa Claus? How about sharing a hot cup of cocoa with them?  From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12. Drop by Hinesville Fire Station 1, 308 S. Commerce St., and take your photo with Santa Claus. This free event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Liberty County and HFD.

Liberty County Proud and Healthy 5K: Registration and numbers at 7:30 a.m. at the pavilion, and the race starts at 8 a.m. Every first Saturday of the month, including Dec. 13, meet up at James A. Brown Park, 800 Tupelo Trail in Hinesville, for the Liberty County Proud and Healthy 5K Run/Walk, rain or shine! Enjoy a brisk run or a leisurely walk with new friends along the wooded, paved trail and take home information and giveaways. Free, family-friendly, and fun!

Wreaths Across America Ride: Motorcycle enthusiasts can join Michelle’s Mission: Wreaths Across America ride. Registration is at 9 a.m., and then kickstands are up at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at VFW Post 6602, 931 Hwy. 196 W in Hinesville. Registration is $20 per biker and $25 with a rider. Christmas Tea at Midway Museum: Raise a pinky at the Midway Museum’s annual Christmas Tea at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. The annual fundraiser features homemade treats and locally-grown tea from Midway’s Jones Creek Farm. Guides in period dress will conduct tours and the museum will be decorated for Colonial Christmas. Visit the museum bookstore and browse local teas, soaps, arts, and crafts for sale. $20 adults, $15 children.

1721: Life of a Sailor: The Fort has been commandeered by bands of marauders, buccaneers, sailors, scouts, and pirates. This three day festival will showcase the true history of those free-spirits living during the Golden Age of Sail from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 through Sunday Dec. 14, at Fort King George Historical Site, 302 McIntosh Road. 

Bounty on the Bluff, a Pirate Take Over of the Auction: A social and networking evening fundraiser for McIntosh GROWS, a youth engagement program partnering with the McIntosh County Schools, Commercial Fisherman Support, and Business Development Programming. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the Fish Dock Bar & Grill, 1398 Sapelo Ave. 
A Highlander Holiday: From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday Dec. 13, at 111 Broad St. Enjoy bagpipes, lantern-lit reenactors, ceilidh dances, and our Best Dressed Highlander Contest. There will be seasonal brews, mulled wine, festive bites, and more.

New Disabled South food assistance: New Disabled South is a disability rights and justice organization operating in 14 Southern states, including Georgia. Due to the government shutdown, SNAP benefits will run out for November.  New Disabled South will help fill that gap by providing one-time payments to those affected by the loss of SNAP. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The organization will distribute $100 to eligible individuals and $250 to households with two or more people at the same address. Flu shots available: Health departments in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh counties now offer updated 2025-2026 flu vaccine. Supplies are limited in some locations as vaccine shipments continue to arrive. Call your local health department to confirm availability and schedule an appointment. A yearly flu vaccine is the best way to prevent serious flu-related illness for everyone age 6 months and older. Costs are typically covered by insurance, and health departments accept many health insurance plans, and low-cost options for those without health insurance coverage. COVID shots available:The health departments in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, and McIntosh Counties are now offering the Pfizer brand of COVID vaccine without a prescription, the Coastal Health District announced Tuesday. COVD vaccines are also available without a prescription at pharmacies, Healthbeat Atlanta reports.
